MECU
History
MECU was established in 1940 by city employees looking for a way
to earn higher rates on savings and lower rates for loans.
Today, MECU has grown into a full service credit union.
Membership in MECU is open to employees of the Lexington-Fayette
Urban County Government, employees of accepted outside agencies
of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, employees of Credit
Union, and the family members of all eligible members. The Board
defines family members as spouses, parents, step-parents, grandparents,
children, stepchildren, foster children, brothers and sisters, step-siblings,
half-siblings, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles.
Once
you are a member, you will always be a member, even if you change
jobs, profession or retire. As long as you remain a member in good
standing, you can maintain your MECU membership.
